Latai Taumoepeau (born 1972) creates artworks that honor her Tongan heritage, deeply rooted in sea voyaging and celestial navigation.
As a Punake, body-centred performance artist, and cultural activist, Taumoepeau weaves together traditional faivā (performing art), indigenous philosophies, and contemporary practices. Her work amplifies the voices of Oceania, addressing the urgency of the climate crisis and advocating for climate justice on a global stage.
