Teaching Climate Change

Making Art in a Warming World uses arts-based learning to engage with multiple dimensions of climate change. Examining the creative practice of contemporary Australian artists helps foster exploration, critical awareness and self-expression in classrooms.

This climate education project is grounded in climate science and aligns with the global goals set by the 2015 Paris Agreement, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Inner Development Goals (IDGs).

Students need to be informed about the science behind climate change, along with actionable solutions. These global frameworks emphasise the crucial role of climate change education in fostering resilience, promoting social transformation, and empowering individuals to take meaningful action toward a sustainable future. By incorporating these international agreements and goals, the resource ensures a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to teaching and learning about climate change.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 interconnected global objectives designed to address urgent social, environmental, and economic challenges, aiming to create a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous world by 2030.

INNER DEVELOPMENT GOALS (IDGs)

The IDG Framework, which has five dimensions associated with 23 skills and qualities, aims to help foster environmental sustainability.
